When I found out that this film had won 11 Oscars (albeit in 1959), I expected to see something I had never seen before.
There is no point in recounting what happened over the course of 212 minutes. And you know, I'm not even going to dissect and analyze anything. I'll just say that during all that time, I never once pressed pause, because this film is so good, interesting, and epic (I won't even comment on the chariot races) that you simply can't take your eyes off the screen, even if you're not a fan of historical films.
Ben-Hur has been setting the standard for 50 years now, as this film has virtually no weak points, and it is unlikely that anything similar will ever be made again.
