I watched this movie a long time ago. Back then, it made a big impression on me. And now, after searching for it for years, I finally found it and watched it again... Turns out it’s just a silly little 90s action flick. The hero is a cop up against a bunch of thuggish bikers. But for some reason, this movie still has a hold on me.
I enjoyed watching it. I put all objectivity aside, relaxed my mind, and had a good time.
Back in those days, I really liked Brian Bosworth. I was captivated by his hand-to-hand combat style in the movies. After all, in real life, Bosworth was an American football player. So in the movies, he pulls off some moves from the sport. A prime example is that cool jump with an elbow strike to the face of one of the biker thugs. There’s no point in talking about his acting skills. In my opinion, he simply doesn’t have any.
If there’s one character I really liked, it’s the biker leader—Chain. Lance Henriksen’s character. I’d give this performance a solid B. He’s this old-timer biker with a beard, all smiles and laughs. He seems like a good-natured guy who likes to tinker with his Harley, but no. Behind all that lies a real criminal. Cold-blooded and calculating.
I also liked the staging of the hand-to-hand combat scenes in the film. I think if the real Bosworth from back then had put that much into a punch, the effect would have been the same. It’s not exactly great, but it evokes nostalgia for times gone by and old idols. Overall, I recommend it to all fans of good old-fashioned—albeit often silly—action movies.
