I think every schoolkid in the ’90s watched this cartoon series on TV, or at least caught a glimpse of it. The animation was pretty basic, but it was quite original, and personally, I found it interesting to watch at times. Back then, I had no idea there was even a movie called *The Flintstones*, which was a novelty at the time. I didn’t get to watch it on a rented VHS tape until two years later.
The director’s vision of a Stone Age city is quite amusingly recreated. Knowing that it’s just a comedy, it’s actually really fun to watch! Cars and buses that you have to kick to get moving—they’ve been carried over from the cartoon, just like almost every other detail of the outside world.
As for the “graphics”… for that time, they’re not bad at all. But I think no one was even trying to recreate dinosaurs that looked like the real thing, and a certain cartoonishness was left in on purpose.
The costumes... they’re just awesome, even if they’re simple. Basically, all the clothing looks like a sack with a hole at the bottom for the head and a couple of openings for the arms. But here, they look quite varied.
