This high-octane action film is living proof of two axioms. First, the best hand-to-hand combat scenes are always made by Asians, and they’re the only ones who set the bar and raise the standard every time. And second, Hong Kong cinema is still alive and well. Yes, its golden age is behind it, but it’s still capable of surprising us and delivering top-notch quality.

It has everything a fan of the genre would sell their soul to the devil for: a plot as simple as a stick, breakneck pacing, and, of course, badass martial artists who show off everything they’re capable of.

The fight choreography was handled by Kensuke Sonomura, whose skill was already evident in *Killer Kids*, and here he delivers simply out-of-this-world brutal fights and such inventive, fast-paced, and ferocious acrobatics that it’ll literally leave you speechless. It’s a fantastic blend of different styles, yet it has its own signature style that’s instantly recognizable and can’t be confused with anything else.

The final 25-minute battle is simply incredible. Hong Kong meets Indonesia—lightning-fast sparring, grappling, and takedowns combined with raw intensity and bloodiness. Each of the five! fighters in the match has their own fighting style, yet when combined, it all comes together harmoniously and spectacularly.

Fans of hand-to-hand combat action movies have once again been treated to a royal gift. It’s vibrant, powerful, and incredibly cool.
