A funny and very light crime comedy about the conflict not only between different social groups, but also between generations. The wonderful Lino Ventura plays the former gangster Fernand Nadine, who has long gone into the official business. He, at the whim of a dying mafioso "Mexican", suddenly becomes the main criminal clan. Bonus - responsibility for the upbringing and education of the eccentric daughter of "Mexican" Patricia, a bright representative of the spoiled young generation. Nadina agrees, but immediately with sabotage and open opposition from the gang members, dissatisfied with the appearance of an outsider. And you can't tell right away which is more difficult: to rein in gangsters or to endure the freaks of a frivolous girl.
Georges Lautner managed to make a very stylish film, laughing enough at each of the main characters. And the episode when the gangsters at war with each other, driven into the kitchen by a youth party, start drinking fake alcohol and nostalgic about the old days, is probably one of the best not only in the film, but in the entire genre. They say that on the set of the drinking bout Jean Lefebvre, who played one of the gangsters, could not enter the character in any way. Then the director mixed brandy, whiskey, juice and hot pepper in a glass and slipped it to the actor. The unsuspecting Lefebvre took a long gulp. This is how the legendary phrase of his hero was born, said with true surprise: "There is a taste of an apple"!
A good movie that can brighten up the evening for lovers of noir and witty comedies.
