Robot 7134 has awoken from hibernation and is now looking for a mission to fulfill. She crash lands on an unknown island inhabited by animals and is forced to survive in the wild. The strange stranger is unable to join the lifestyle of the animals, but becomes the guardian of a newborn caterpillar in the company of a lone fox and the mother of a family of possums.
Actors: Lupita Nyong'o fits the role of Roz wonderfully. It's clear how she wins the respect of the animals who previously thought she was a monster and the fox a freak. Such are the rules of the wilderness. In time, she will realize that she has become not just a support for the caterpillar, but someone more. It's new to her, because it's not in the program to be a... a mom?
From the very beginning of the trailer, when I first learned about the cartoon after watching it, I was drawn to Pedro Pascal's character (just like his protégé). He voiced the eccentric and egotistical fox Fink, who takes advantage of Roz. However, he later realizes that Roz has become family to him, as has BrightCluvik, who grew up with them.
I think Grebun the beaver (Matt Berry) characterizes the essence of the cartoon well - he enjoys gnawing on a single tree. The art isn't in the fall, it's in the process.
Everything else: what did you like? The way the themes are explained in an accessible way for the younger generation. Over the course of the cartoon, Roz questions herself: what is love? Along the way, she gains a soul and the ability to be needed by everyone who needs her. Find confidence and happiness can only be found by deviating from the set program. Say, you are not always a mom and want to become something more, right? Roz comes into her own in a place where she wasn't meant to be. As the saying goes, “Putting down her roots deep.”
I rarely write about critics' opinions, but of course this is the perfect time to say that the cartoon is great! They were left in awe of “Wild Robot.” Another masterpiece in the piggy bank of the DreamWorks animation studio team. Of course, the cartoon is a little more modern than the rest of the cartoons of my childhood noughties, but it also has its own zest. Terrific plot, beautiful landscapes of nature, wonderful animals and their wonderful characters and so on.
Stephanie Xu again fulfills the role of the villain. The participation of Mark Hamill (closer to the finale his voice role increased) and Catherine O'Hara, who gave her voice to Pink Tail (I don't envy her heroine, who is tortured with the upbringing of restless children. But little possums know how to die cool).
So far, the animated film from the director of How to Tame the Dragon has an impressive 98% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 55 reviews and an 84 score on Metacritic from 15 critics.
I've loved watching Chris Sanders' heartwarming cartoons since I was a kid, starting with 'Lilo and Stitch'. He shoots heartfelt and endearing undertones. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets nominated for an Oscar for this cartoon.
The songs can bring you to tears. ... Goosebumps. Spiritually uplifting mood occurs when you get into the atmosphere of the cartoon, and the melodies perfectly complement the picture.
The cartoon can be safely put on a par with 'Hunting Season' and 'Migration'.
On September 28, 2023, DreamWorks Animation began developing a cartoon based on the series of children's books of the same name by Peter Brown. Chris Sanders was set to direct and write the cartoon.
It is unfortunate that this cartoon will be the last DreamWorks Animation project created entirely by the Glendale campus staff. DreamWorks will then utilize outside studios to develop new animated films.
Impressions: a touching and heartfelt cartoon.
