This is one of the best karate films I have seen. I think Van Dam got the idea for 'Bloodsport' from here. In general, the film is very sincere and touching. It is about friendship, enmity and choosing your own path. I liked the third part of the film more. Because here the juxtaposition of the two possible approaches to karate is shown most clearly. This is either the path of cruelty, fear, pain and deceit (the path of the clenched fist) or the path of self-defense, compassion, humanity and peace (the path of the open palm). And the word karate itself turns out to mean 'empty hand'. And it is in this episode that Daniel goes on the path of a clenched fist, before that he always did what Miyayagi said, which is one-sided in my opinion. And I don't like in this film that Daniel is constantly beaten, he is clearly weaker and more inept than his rivals from the school of clenched fist and therefore he needed to do something to change his life and be able to cope with those who fight with a clenched fist and ready to kill him, tear him apart.

In general, in all the films about a karate guy, Daniel is too weak and awkward and somehow I can't believe in his victory in tournaments. That is, I think in reality such a one-sided approach to karate, such a fighting style would not have worked. This is the Path of the Champion, Not the Path of the Winner! Sometimes it really seems that Miyagi, in the first place, does not need a student who is good at fighting and is able to defeat his enemies, but simply free labor and Daniel's indignation with this method in the end is quite understandable.

So I think it really takes a fist-open-hand alignment to win. People are different and some need to be hurt and scared well so that they do not climb. That is, cruelty is also needed in some cases. And being 'kind' and 'fair' is never an option. They'll just be trampled and thrown into the trash heap.

Although in this film it is perfectly shown that Daniel, although against the will of Miyagi, learned the path of a clenched fist and became his master too, that is, he learned from his enemies how to defeat them.

I would also like to note the balance of the film, that is, it shows not only good and how it is incomprehensible how easily it overcomes evil, but also evil, its methods are deceit, lies, cruelty, and mockery. But still, the film is somewhat fabulous, in the end, Daniel wins again exclusively with the style of an open palm, which is hard to believe, this is implausible, he does not use the tactics of a clenched fist in the final fight and wins rather by chance. And in general, let them beat me like a rag all the way, make a chop out of me, and then maybe at the very end I will make one move and hit in order to win with one blow, I don't like it. This is implausible. And even if it is possible, then in my opinion this is the worst way! If you go out to fight, then win as soon as you can, and do not endure and wait, it is not clear what!

But overall the movie is great. Many interesting thoughts. Both approaches are shown. Favorite movie of my childhood
