It just so happens to be the last episode of Star Trek. That's it, there won't be any more. But that doesn't mean it will remain only in memories, 80 episodes and 6 movies. It will still evolve in our minds, dreams and feelings. After all, 'The Way' is a whole, still unexplored, universe in which there is room for new achievements. The courage and bravery of Captain Kirk and his loyal crew will always be with us, for this world, created by the greatest dreamer Gene Roddenberry, sometimes seems more real than you and me.
As it happens, Nicholas Meyer directed 2 of the most brilliant pictures in the history of 'The Way. 'Wrath of Khan' was a gem, and 'Undiscovered Country' was a fitting conclusion to the adventures of the Enterprise. Or was it not the end? The ship NCC-1701 despite its different incarnations will travel in space, albeit with a different crew, but will continue to discover new worlds and universes. I am happy that the authors found the strength to make the last series, which was not a point, but a dotted line in the history of 'Star Trek'. After it there will be no silly and cheap TV sequels, there will be no feeling of 'loss' of the beloved characters, but there will remain the belief that the story is not over yet. It's exactly as it was meant to be.
We will no longer see Kirk played by William Shatner, Spock played by Leonard Nimoy, McCoy played by DeForest Kelley, Scotty played by James Doohan, Sulu played by George Takei, Chekhov played by Walter Koenig, Uhura played by Nichelle Nichols and many others. They will only be a link in the next series linking the old and new 'Star Trek. But hope does not fade, the beloved characters have come to us in the form of new actors from the new series started by Jay Abrams, for which I am extraordinarily grateful to him. Just hope it wasn't the only success.
Once again I want to say that 'Undiscovered Land' is a stunning picture in its incarnation, which can be watched by both fans of 'Star Trek' and ordinary viewers.
And lastly, 'Humanity's Adventures Are Just Beginning.
