There should be no compromises if the main tough character is played by Arnold Schwarzenegger (now he "plays the role" of the "gentle" governor and carelessly rides his white Hummer along the smooth roads of his fiefdom, California, but then, back in 1986, he stormed the heights of Hollywood with the tenacity of "Mr. Universe"). Everything crumbles, everything collapses, everything goes its way. And now, in order...
The FBI agents guarding the material witness were killed along with him. Out of revenge motives, the father of one of them, a career FBI agent, turns to an acquaintance who was unjustly fired from the bureau for help, promising the latter to reinstate him to his job. According to the plan, the employee, who worked as a sheriff in the provinces, fakes his death and appears in the criminal organization, pretending to be a bandit, looking for a job...
The film "No Compromise" is a typical police action film with the abundance of shootings, chases and fights. One must pay tribute to director John Irwin, who never grabbed laurels and awards, but with conscientious persistence made good, quality movies ("The Next of Kin," "Dogs of War," "Free Falling"), where the dramatic line was successfully combined with the sharp-scene, "action" one.
It is also worth noting the magnificent cameraman Alex Thomson, who shot "No Compromise". Having worked with many famous English-American directors (John Boorman "Excalibur", Michael Cimino "Year of the Dragon" and "The Sicilian", Ridley Scott "Legend", Jim Henson "Labyrinth", George Pan Cosmatos "Leviathan") and having shot many famous "box office" movies, Alex Thomson remained loyal to his "operator line", his fascinating style of photography. Spectacular scenes of chases, shootouts and fights are shot with some mysticism, fantasy and ... fairy-tale characteristic of Thomson.
As to the main actor's work, Arnold Schwarzenegger is beyond comparison, as I mentioned above. His character, finding himself in a gangster environment, deftly hides from exposure, and when it comes to hand-to-hand and shooting, Arnie unfolds to his full potential (you bet! After all, this role was preceded by the landmark: the "Conan", "Terminator" and "Commando" dilemmas).
All in all, I would like to note that the film "No Compromise" is made on a good "action" level and, in principle, I liked it.
