Decision to Leave 4K 2022 KOREAN

Park Chang-uk still knows how to surprise. In his new film Decision to Leave, the Korean director departed from his usual style with shocking and brutal scenes and delivered a beautiful love story wrapped in a mystical detective. It turned out, in my opinion, beautifully.

What I want to note right away is the visual component. The beauty of the movie takes your breath away. Every scene, every detail, look and move is beyond perfect and immerses you in a mysterious atmosphere.

And not understanding where is reality and reality, together with the main hero, the viewer has a fascinating journey into the world of emotions.

How finely they succeeded in conveying the feeling of love: uncomfortable, wrong, but attractive. And great merit here in the beautifully chosen music, in particular the song 'Fog'. Although the song is old-fashioned, just like the main character, who learned Korean from the historical series, but at the same time, the composition has its own charm, just like the girl.

By the way, the main role in the film is played by Chinese actress Tang Wei. We must admit that she is very good in this film, and with every appearance in the frame all the attention is only on her. Her facial expressions, gestures, looks and touches are convincing. It's a very appealing image.

What else is so appealing is the film's abundance of details and attention to them. There is an emphasis on interior objects and colors, the main character's dress, her diary, cell phones, voicemails, and even the scenery. All of these details are important clues to understanding the plot and the motives of the main characters.

I confess that even on the second viewing I found many details not noticed before, and some scenes and motives still remain unclear to me. But that in no way spoils the impression of watching it. A visual masterpiece with wonderful acting, soulful music and mysterious atmosphere.

At the same time, despite the long running time, the picture looks in one breath. I definitely recommend it to all connoisseurs of festival cinema.
