In 1997, on the big screens appeared tape with a long title 'I know what you did last summer', which fell on the share of unexpected success, despite the simple genre of youth horror. Impressed by the collections of low-budget movie, the producers a year later riveted its sequel, but with a larger budget and a longer title - 'I Still Know What You Did Last Summer'. The theme is the same: a group of young people against a mysterious killer in a cape and with a huge scary hook in his hand. The action was moved to one of the Bahamas, and the lead role was taken by the charming Jennifer Love Hewitt from the first series, who became famous thanks to this horror movie.
The picture does not fall below the standard bar set for such tapes, but also does not show anything outstanding. Fear - zero, there is almost no tension, just sit and watch with mild curiosity, as a maniac will kill another victim this time, in what way. Frankly speaking, not inventive and not spectacular, in later films of this genre had to come up with more sophisticated ways of killing to somehow interest the viewer. Here much more attention is attracted not by the basic, rather banal, events, but by the appearance of two notable people: the legendary 'reanimator' Jeffrey Combs, starring as a hotel receptionist, and young Jack Black in the surprisingly familiar role of a pot dealer. Such a joy in old, half-forgotten pictures: you watch the movie, bored, suddenly there - bang - a familiar face: some actor who later became a star or a celebrity who decided to dabble.Immediately viewing becomes more fun, and you begin to feel for the picture even a slight sympathy. It's the same here.
In general, then, in 98, it was kind of a hit, now - a banal youth thriller. If you like the genre and want to remember what tapes it started with, you can watch it.
