Roman Polanski's classic thriller, based on the book by Ira Levin, was one of the first to tackle the subject of the 'devil's child'. Subsequently, it was many, many times played and used in other films. Many wanted to snatch a piece of glory "Rosemary's Baby" but, in fact, almost none of the movie is not surpassed. Note from the list can only 'Omen' (1976), but this is a separate page of the new book.
This picture is hard to call a horror movie, it's more like a drama, which from the movie flowed life. After the success of 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968) a year later Polanski's wife, actress Sharon Tate was murdered by Charles Manson's gang (cult members). She was in the last month of her pregnancy.....
The movie begins with a young couple moving into a new apartment. Who could have known that Rosemary's whole life would go down the drain, and on top of that she gets pregnant... But by whom?
Christophe Komeda's penetrating music enlivens and fills the film with colors, it makes the picture more complete and reveals the boundaries of light and darkness. The actors play their roles superbly, and Ruth Gordon deservedly won an Oscar for her supporting role. A classic that doesn't deserve to pass you by.
Evil may wear many masks, but virtue is the worst of them all.
