Oil magnate Forrester tries to start a war between Indians and whites. He is opposed by blood brothers Old Shatterhand and Winnetou.
Another in the West German Indian series based on the novels of Karl May. As always there are many dynamic stunt scenes, although much attention is paid to the romantic element of the story: the love triangle between Winnetou, the Indian woman Ribanna and the young lieutenant of the American army Robert Merrill.
The international cast, in addition to series regulars Lex Barker and Pierre Brice, includes British-German villain duo Anthony Steele as Forrester and Klaus Kinski brutally playing his sidekick Lucas. Director Harald Reinl's wife Karin Dor played Ribanna, and Lieutenant Merrill was played by a young Italian actor Mario Girotti, who would later become famous in spaghetti westerns under the pseudonym Terence Hill.
Tightly shot picture in the tradition of the series. It may well be considered one of the best in the series.
