The Stepfather' is a horror movie that came out during a small period of extinction for the slasher genre, namely the 86s-90s of the 20th century. It was a movie that few people would have seen and few people would have liked. Especially in those times, when all new parts of 'Halloween', 'Nightmare on Elm Street' and other representatives of the genre were coming out, so there was competition and the audience got tired. But despite that difficult period, the movie still found its connoisseurs.
On the one hand, it is a great thriller, which can emphasize some of the problems in families around the world. It has a terrific atmosphere and a dashingly twisted plot. Thanks to this it is easy to watch, and sometimes you don't even think about the fact that there is a horror movie in front of you. Plus we have a young actor Terry O`Queen, who coped with the role perfectly. There is some charisma in his face, and something in his gaze causes nervous trembling.
On the other hand - a drawn-out thriller. Exactly - dragged out. Either the screenwriters were in a hurry, or Joseph Rubin overlooked something when he was sitting in the director's chair.
Although the tape has a couple of minuses, but this does not spoil its viewing. Fans of the genre of this movie, of course, will like it, but I would not recommend it to children, widows and divorced women. The story is too impressive.
