What can be said about this movie? Perhaps, here I will refrain from rave reviews, which usually, one way or another, accompany Mel Gibson's personality. The movie leaves only positive feelings, but it feels a bit strained and unnatural, though I admit that Gibson, as a patriot of his country, did everything from the bottom of his heart. But the propaganda doctrine of the movie keeps me on my toes throughout the entire viewing.
Now about the plot: the plot is one big, lasting more than two hours, battle scene (the action takes place during the Vietnam War), good, spectacular, but not up to “Saving Private Ryan”. Everything ends as always with the complete victory of American democracy. It's interesting to watch how people change, who found themselves in the epicenter of senseless slaughter. Well, I will leave Mel Gibson's performance without any comments; it is as always on top.
Verdict: the movie is good and worth watching, but do not think that the impressions will be the same as after “Braveheart” or “Saving Private Ryan”, they still remain an unattainable height of world cinema.
