A horror with no obvious national identity tells us a rather naive though coherent story involving a mysterious piece of art, a suspicious landlady and some random tourists who are down on their luck.
The movie manages in a way to deceive the viewer's expectations in terms of the scare methods offered. Almost from the very beginning, the narrative begins to follow two parallel paths, which leads to the display of brutal and naturalistic scenes of physical massacres in the spirit of good splatterers.
Director and screenwriter, Federico Zampaglione doesn't resort to overt gimmicks, clever twists or open endings. This is a familiar story with some funny special effects, which closes all the questions by the finale. By the way, thanks for the ending, it was quite non-trivial and even ironic for a movie with such a serious tone.
