It is believed that the time of exploitation cinema is long gone. “As if it isn't,” replies Terrifier director Damien Leone. His movie is a benchmark B-grade slasher. It has all the elements characteristic of the genre: beautiful girl victims, a psychopathic maniac in the form of a clown, a creepy location, liters of blood and ultra-violence. Each stamp is masterfully brought to the necessary condition. The director proves with his movie that genre movies can be great if approached with due diligence and love. Tarantino would definitely be pleased. The color palette, the manner of filming and the soundtrack all play on the nostalgic feelings of the viewer. The poster alone speaks volumes.
