Legend of the Demon Cat 4K 2017

The 250 million yuan (US$38.8 million) epic drama from master of large-scale historical films Chen Kaige, co-produced by China and Japan, has received critical acclaim and box office success since its release in China on December 22, 2017. In a short period of time, the movie managed to gross around 500 million yuan ($76.9 million).

If you expect to see mysticism, mind-boggling special effects, magical flights and transformations, it's worth saying that this is present in the movie, but that's not the main thing.

Starting from the middle of the movie the focus will be shifted from the investigation of mysterious murders to the love story of a young illusionist student to the concubine of the Tang Dynasty Emperor, which is the starting point of all further events.

The movie is very beautiful, especially noteworthy is the masterfully repeated superimposition of the past magnificent decoration of the emperor's palace on the present state of desolation. I was reminded of the unforgettable ending of the movie Titanic. As always, the director perfectly conveyed the feelings of the characters through expressive images and music.
