Marvin Gable leads a successful life as a realtor in a respectable Milwaukee suburb. One day he receives a mysterious envelope from a woman named Rose, whom he once abandoned to certain death. She informs him that Marvin is wanted by his brother Knuckles, a criminal mastermind. It turns out that behind the smile and good manners of a successful real estate agent hides a dark criminal past.
It is worth admitting that this movie is nothing new in terms of plot. Something similar about a hired killer, who is forced to take up the old can be found in a huge number of different movies and TV series. Moreover, slightly ineptly mounted trailers in advance briefly retold the plot of the movie and from this, the plot twists of this tape were spoilered in advance and the story from this slightly lost its charm.
At the expense of this we can safely say that the movie is almost completely pulled out by the direction of Jonathan Eusebio. Despite the fact that this movie was a full-fledged directorial debut for a man who had previously worked only as a stuntman, from the point of view of directing the movie looks surprisingly smooth and not bad. Naturally, the main lure of this tape is the action scenes, which by the way turned out to be not so much as one could expect initially. However, from the point of view of choreography these action scenes look really effective and spectacular. Somewhere in the middle the movie sags a bit and the element of melodrama in the love relations of the heroes is also not realized to the full. However, this does not affect the overall impression of what we have seen.
An important role in such a strong impression of what we have seen played and the performer of the main role Ke Huy Quan, the decision to appoint which was the most correct decision of the authors of this tape. Quan perfectly pulls out humorous moments, brutal looks brutal in the image of the cruel alter ego of his hero and convincingly demonstrates the personal transformation of his character. Ariana Debose is a bit overplayed at times. But overall quite successfully manages to make her character vivid. The same can be said about Mustafa Shakir, who with ease now and then goes beyond the second plan. Daniel Wu looks quite good in the image of a negative character.
