Ah, watching this legendary film about the clash of two titans, you realize that it needs a good remake, after the recent ‘resurrection’ of King Kong and the excellent new Godzilla movie.
For its time, the film was shot very well and effectively. The costumes are excellent, although in the 1954 version, Godzilla was scarier, but here it's also quite good, although Kong looks more realistic.
Interestingly, there are two different versions of the film in terms of editing and scenes: Japanese and American. The American version features new characters, regular television reports, and reports from the scene. Also, King Kong appears much earlier than Godzilla emerges from the ice. In the Japanese version, the plot is structured completely differently, and Godzilla appears earlier, much earlier...
But the film is magnificent. Now, after all the Transformers and Journey to the Center of the Earth films, many will find this film childish and implausible, but in my opinion, the makeup and costumes are worth much more than any computer graphics.
