It was this film that introduced me to the wonderful actor Adam Sandler. I compare all his subsequent films to this one.
The plot is simple: the son of a rich man has to go back to school and prove that he can manage such a serious and complex business as the hotel industry. Otherwise, his father's sycophant will take all the family's property for himself. It would seem like nothing special. But not in this case. Sandler turns a typical comedy into something new and incredibly funny and entertaining. Take, for example, the scene where a 17-year-old teenager sits in a circle of first-graders and sings children's songs. Or the moment when all the little ones are asleep and he, so big, curled up in a ball, is also snoring in his sleep...
Sandler managed to get into the role of a spoiled son, conveying all his impulsiveness, maximalism, foolishness, and arrogance. But at the same time, he proved that anything is possible and that his character is not so insensitive and heartless.
