I watched this film a long time ago. It was shown on TV for the first time then. And I froze... It seemed very unusual to me. Very beautiful, on the one hand, and very scary, on the other.
The music captivated me (as it did the main character in the film), I was delighted with it. I wanted to know if a real opera singer was in the film and if it was her voice. I was captivated by the actors' performances. I was captivated by the plot. In some places it shocked me, in others it frightened me. The director conveyed the fear of the main character, Jules, so realistically at the end of the film that I was completely immersed in it.
I think not everyone will like the film, but I was simply enchanted by it. And it left a lasting impression on me. Now, whenever I see it listed in the program, I eagerly await the night, because for some reason it is always shown at night and... very rarely.
