You read reviews and form an idea of what modern viewers want: special effects, fights, humor... Is that all? How sad!
Today, I watched this beloved, simple, yet powerful film for the eighth time. What's so special about it? — modern youth, fed on special effects, might ask.
It has a very good idea, or rather, not an idea, but an image of a person! And not a fantastical image invented by a screenwriter, but a real image... The film is based on the true story of a man who, contrary to the saying “one man is not a warrior,” fought and proved that a warrior can indeed be a loner in ordinary, non-cinematic life! The film was made in memory of Buford Pusser, a man who did not want to be part of the majority, who did not want to be a sheep in a flock, a man who challenged and won.
For reference, there is a museum dedicated to Paser in his hometown in America... you can find out about this by searching the internet before dismissing it as “just another story about a superhero from the people.”
Almost every day in real life, we hear reports of the lawlessness of those in power and law enforcement agencies. And not only in our country, but all over the world. But stories about a man who was able to stand up without fear, and even win in court, and then take it upon himself to defend the law, to honestly defend the true law! They are very rare... Sad, isn't it?
Don't look for modern special effects in this film, don't look for spectacle... Look for a role model and the story of a strong person.
P.S. It is sad that the more special effects there are in modern cinema, the less meaning and ideas there are.
Movies should make you think, set an example for behavior, make the gears in your head turn, not zombify you with special effects. After watching a movie, you should have thoughts, comparisons, desires to change something, not just sit there with a bottle of beer, wasting your life.
