After her successful debut in Mario Bava's film ‘The Mask of Satan’, the newly crowned ‘queen of scream’ Barbara Steele continues to appear periodically in the role of gothic villains and fatal betrayers in numerous Italian gothic horror films.

After the success of The Horrible Secret of Dr. Hitchcock, Steele starred in the thematic sequel The Ghost, in which she played a typical role for her: a cunning seductress who cheats on her husband, who is dying of an incurable disease, with his personal physician. After her husband's death, the ghost of the adulterer begins to haunt her.

The Ghost is a solid, atmospheric horror film with an unpredictable ending. The gothic atmosphere of the film is literally mesmerizing with its dark appeal. Barbara Steele is beautiful as always. Her performance is hypnotic and captivating. She, like no other, was perfect for roles of cunning villains and traitors.

The result: one of the best Italian gothic horror films, with an excellent cast and solid sets. Recommended viewing.
