I read somewhere that the more films you watch by a particular director, the more you feel that their most famous films were a fluke or that they were made by someone else. I remember people saying this about Shyamalan, the Pang brothers, and Jonathan Demme. I strongly disagree with this. People simply have moments of inspiration, and when they don't, they don't stop making quality films, because a master without inspiration is still a master.
The same is true of Married to the Mob. It's a good, solid film. Not a masterpiece, not brilliant, just good.
It is difficult to define its genre. It has a little bit of everything—drama, melodrama, crime, and comedy scenes—just life, in a word, only perhaps a little embellished.
That would be something to embellish! It's a shame that one of the most beautiful actresses of her time, Michelle Pfeiffer, starred in the film!
It's not easy for Angela DeMarco to be a gangster's widow. The woman wants to start an honest life with a clean slate, but her old “family” ties won't let her go. And then there's the FBI on her tail. What can you do?
This is a light-hearted crime story. It is recommended for those who enjoy watching stories about the mafia with a touch of humor.
Even those who don't like such stories can safely be recommended this film. Because Married to the Mob, I'm not afraid to repeat myself, is a good, solid film and a very watchable piece of cinema.
