Sleepless 4K 2001

Italian director Dario Argento often managed to shock his audience to the core.

There is always something original in his films. Personally, I can't say right away what exactly it is. But there are definitely three main components that underpin almost all of his work. Cruelty, mysticism, and wild coldness permeate most of the scenes in Argento's creations. The faded images and sharp sounds draw the viewer into the atmosphere.

Sleepless does not shine with the originality characteristic of the director's works. I don't think the idea will reveal anything new to the viewer either. In the large Italian city of Turin, a series of brutal murders are committed by an unknown maniac. As always in this kind of film, there are detectives and police who rack their brains over the case until the very last minutes of the film.

But the film would be just as ordinary, formulaic, and mundane if it weren't for the cherished, trump cards of Italian director Dario Argento. He very successfully chose a location where cruel and mysterious events could unfold against its gloomy backdrop. The vast expanses of Italy, covered by a dark veil of night.

Huge, spacious rooms and halls, theaters, and other public places. It is this spaciousness that is striking, and from here you begin to understand that absolutely any place is suitable for murder. Be it a ballet or an ordinary electric train making its last night run. For the master of horror, there are no places where blood cannot be shed.

Fans of the horror genre are probably very interested in what the killings look like in the film and how much blood can be seen. I would answer as follows. The film offers a series of Italian-style elegant deaths with a reasonable amount of blood. There is cruelty, and at times it makes you grit your teeth in fear....

And finally, I would just like to add that if you are tired of primitive and mundane American horror films, then move to Europe. In Europe, horror films have long dominated American films. Perhaps not very often, but still accurately.
