This film does not deserve the hate I see in the comments. It's not perfect, but it has many good bits, too.
The story is of a shipwrecked samurai on a island, learning to accept his past, present and himself. This part features really beautiful scenery, but fails to build the protagonist's character into anything sympathetic. Then, some cannibals capture him, leading to a conflict. Here I was expecting really cool fights, especially since Yayan Ruhian was involved, but unfortunately it all looked amateurish. It wasn't bad per total, but there were some particular scenes that required reshoots and no one bothered.
I blame the writer/director, who should have planned better, shot better and edited better. As such it felt a bit like an exploitation flick.
Bottom line: first part was slow, but better made, promising to truly know the character. Second part was a bit sloppier, promising a cathartic final battle. Unfortunately for the film, both disappointed. Overall a decent effort, but a subpar execution.
