Following the films *Vampire Lovers* and *Attraction to a Vampire*, Hammer Studios continued to experiment with Sheridan Le Fanu’s *Carmilla*.
This film concludes the Karnstein trilogy. It is arguably the best film in the entire trilogy. It is shot in a more classic Hammer style. In terms of eroticism, it is more restrained than the previous films in the trilogy. The film features a gothic atmosphere, a solid plot, and stunning performances by the actors.
Peter Cushing brilliantly portrayed the role of the religious leader, Gustav.
The attractive twin sisters were played by *Playboy* models Mary Collinson and Madeline Collinson, who were actually twin sisters in real life.
Definitely the best film in the entire Karnstein trilogy. I highly recommend it to fans of classic Hammer films.
