The events of the film start to unfold at the moment when Mildred Hays loses her child. A woman goes to the police. She hopes that the cops can punish the criminal who killed her baby. The police promise to the main heroine that they will solve the crime and punish the person responsible for her daughter's death. However, Mildred notes that the cops are in no hurry to investigate the case file. As time passes, the woman regularly contacts the police, but receives no answers. One day she realizes that the investigators aren't looking for the killer at all. Law enforcement officials spend all their working hours mocking those who differ from them in their skin colour.
