Surely most people in childhood, or maybe not in childhood, read fairy tales or simply fantasized on the theme of distant, distant lands, magic kingdoms, pirates and so on. Rob Reiner gives us a new opportunity to plunge into the world of fantasy. A simple story about the separation and reunion of lovers, abundantly strewn with adventures and victory over intrigues by envious villains.
The construction of the film is not quite familiar for a fairy tale. First, they show us a little boy who is not particularly interested in listening to a fairy tale that his grandfather is trying to read to him. Then we plunge into the fairy tale itself, but on the most exciting episodes, we break off, and then again plunge into the beautiful world of the fairy tale.
I remember that before the "Princess Bride" was shown on television, but I just didn't like the beginning and a little balagan style of presentation, so I did not watch the film. But now, after several years, I enjoyed watching the film. Now I understand why it is in this manner that the narrative takes place - so that both adults and children can watch the film.
