I did not see the Hobbit trilogy in my time in the cinema, because I do not like this format of viewing. It is more convenient for me to watch films at home alone, so that no one distracts me from the film. As a result, I only got to the Hobbit trilogy in January 2020.
I was struck by the elves. I especially liked and admired Thranduil, the king of the Elves of Mirkwood. In the book about the hobbit, his name was not named; without visual embodiment, the character was perceived differently. And here - clearly shown greatness and power. The whole trilogy was jarred by the nagging of the dwarves to Thranduil, although they did not give him the jewelry, they constantly humiliated and reproached him. Why would Thranduil have to help the dwarves after being treated like this? Thranduil is handsome, dangerous, rather selfish and cruel, but at the same time he loves his son Legolas and grieves for his deceased wife. Hopefully Thranduil will appear in the upcoming Lord of the Rings series.
In general, the trilogy made a very strong positive impression. The battle scenes, atmosphere, special effects were on the level. Correctly, the book was stretched into three films, and not crumpled into one, it would be a stupid decision. I do not understand the aggression to the 'Hobbit' trilogy, whining about disappointments and disappointed expectations. Probably, you and I watched different films about the hobbit.
As a result, I became interested in the topic of elves in films, TV shows and games. I was interested in the universes of The Witcher, Warcraft and others. The Hobbit trilogy inspired my creativity. Isn't that enough?
