It seems that Marvel's formula for success works successfully everywhere but Marvel.
The guys didn't sweat it too much, they called in famous actors from the second echelon. They poured in a lot of computer graphics. A handful of narration. Lots of funny and no jokes, and voila, a 10 out of 10 masterpiece.
No, really, it's a good movie. At least they took a fantasy universe where the black paladins really look organic. And they are all perfectly balanced by the gorgeous Sophia Lillis. How beautiful she is.
Somehow, the creators managed to cram a dozen characters and a lot of plot twists into one movie. Probably due to the fact that they focused on the main character of Chris Pine.
Michelle Rodriguez is unrecognizable as she was weaned for the role. Now I'm going to wonder if it was an overlap or if she rocked out like that on purpose for the role.
The characters are constantly finding some sort of magical artifact, rings, beads, daggers. All of this is diligently shown as it bangs and glows and shimmers. If someone suddenly gives in to memories, then surely a flashback with some dragon or a beautiful monster is shown. Fantasy locations constantly change, here is a snowy wasteland, blooming fields and cute hobbit houses, and here is a red-hot volcano, wait, wait, hold the gloomy cemetery with a mysterious atmosphere. We did not skimp on special effects.
To keep the plasticity from getting in your teeth, there is a lot of full-scale filming with mountains/forests. Sometimes there are monsters made of papier-mâché.
An excellent entertaining film with a capital letter.
