One of the factors in attracting a large number of viewers to a film is if it features one, two or several (and sometimes a whole bunch, as in 'The Expendables') famous actors. I watched this movie for this very reason, mainly, of course, because of Clint Eastwood.
I remember that on the box with Forrest Gump, in the description of the film, it was written: 'historical chronicle changed with the help of modern technologies', and so, in this film, released a year earlier, this is also present, and no one brags about it on the box. Well, okay, now about the tape itself.
Most memorable is the hero of John Malkovich. I haven't seen such a cold-blooded and calculating killer for a long time. And Clint Eastwood is poorly remembered this time, maybe because his character is a typical seasoned special agent who knows everything about everyone and sees people through and through?
About the plot. An excellent detective story about the assassination attempt on the president. A large number of exciting moments, almost the entire film keeps the viewer in suspense, well-developed characters and interesting dialogues.
Action. There is not so much of it here, and it is not done very well, the fights are poorly organized, the blood is very noticeable that it is fake. The only thing that was done is very cool chases, but there are only a couple of them for the film.
In general, this film has absorbed all the best of classic action films such as Die Hard and Lethal Weapon, thus creating a kind of standard of the genre, from which they have been taking an example for many years. In a short time, it has become an ageless classic of American cinema, with its pros and cons.
