So Middle-earth has already turned into a franchise, which along with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and other universes is beginning to be actively milked by movie makers. Here and Warner Bros. in order not to lose the rights to the franchise, suddenly decided to screen the story of Helm Molotoruky from the Lord of the Rings. True in contrast to fellow amazon to ni to night mentioned 'rings of power', the authors decided to still shoot on Tolkien's tests, rather than make 95% fanfic with representatives of all races in the roles of representatives of free peoples, the more the anime format provides a little more freedom. But how to stretch the movie to two hours if the events themselves are described in Tolkien's 4 pages? Of course, by introducing new preosnazhdazh events! Well as new...Helm's daughter is mentioned by Tolkien but without name, eagles, mummies and even water guardian were in Tolkien's story but not in this story. References, references everywhere, as it is accepted now, familiar locations of Edoras and Helm's Deep where the heroes of the VK walked, familiar phrases and images, even Miranda Otto was called to voice, not for nothing Eowyn played.
But what's the story? The story itself from Tolkien's text remained without strong changes, although it is told on behalf of the character who is not even mentioned by name. There are small changes, not very necessary for the story action scenes like the scene with mumak, but in general everything is within the bounds of decency. Hera was not turned into another fighting woman, she looks weak and defenseless in many moments, in this respect the ending is a bit perplexing. Wolfe could have been a more interesting character if his motivation beyond revenge hadn't been turned into a pointless parenthood by the flick. Also perplexing is the huge siege tower that can be ridden freely by horses. Just why?) It is cheaper than showing a large-scale assault on the ladders?
The animation is somewhat twitchy, but it doesn't cause any rejection. Shore's music is fine, but it's mostly themes from VK, there's not much of his own colorful music in the anime.
In general, the cartoon was not bad, moderately gloomy, although quite average in quality, which in our time can be considered and achievement. New characters and feminist motifs did not threaten the main 'Shakespearean' line Helm, although it was noticeably squeezed.
Fans of Middle-earth and even the average person can watch the anime and enjoy it. Whether they'll return to it in the future is the big question....
