"A meteorite fell from the sky and a dark forest appeared where it fell, a place from which few returned. In its center appeared a wish star, waiting for someone to come and fulfill his Last Wish."
That's a familiar introduction, isn't it? It's amazing, but Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish is a loose reimagining of Stalker. The plot and the main plot are very similar. There is a wish maker, a magic star, and a group of heroes, each with their own wish, who strive to the center of the zone to fulfill it. Of course the cartoon doesn't go beyond the usual family moral about friendship and family, but we don't need that.
Several characters enter the race for the last wish: the actual Cat with the dream of immortality. There is an obvious reference here to the book's Redrick Schuchart. He's the same redhead and uses the dog as a lockpick to test the anomaly.
The cat, whose desire is unknown to us until then. A blissfully homeless dog who looks something like Kaidanovsky's character.
Masha and the Three Bears with a dream of a family, here it is obvious that the cartoon will fulfill its family purpose. And Jack the Jack, with a dream of becoming a wizard. He's probably the best character here, just in the spirit of Shrek. I will not spoil who got to the star and got his wish, but it actually does not matter.
The important thing is that we are waited for, after all this time, albeit free, but quite decent adaptation of "Roadside Picnic".
In addition, the cartoon is simply excellent computer graphics, which has captured the trend "Spider-Verse" and now the picture sometimes resembles hand-drawn graphics. I recommend it to everyone.
