Watership Down 4K 1978

Curious why no one has written about this cartoon yet. From the same writer as the 'Desperate Dogs' cartoon, which is on my list of favorite movies. The cartoon, like 'Dogs', is not for kids. Lots of philosophy, violence and a realistic world.

If 'Desperate Dogs' was a cartoon about the life of unfortunate animals in a vicious world that held drama and oppressive atmosphere, realism, one detailed stunning drawing is worthy of separate praise, then 'Watership Down' combines adventure, fairy tale and brutal fights (approach to life and survival). For the '70s, that's a great breakthrough. I've always wondered -- how many talented artists it takes to express all life in the wild in detail and colorful ways.

Frankly, the cartoon is not for the faint of heart. In the cartoon about dogs was a dramatic plot and suspense, here elements of fantasy (their own myths and words) and the struggle for life.

Even though the main characters are rabbits, even though the cartoon didn't scare me, even though I liked it, even though it's a great story, but something shocked me.

I for example would never have thought that rabbits, like predators, are capable of tearing apart even their own kind. Especially the main villain, General Durman (sort of). It felt like he had rabies, since he wasn't afraid to get into a bloody fight with a large angry dog.

So, just because of such fights, but not because of the presence of blood, I do not recommend watching this cartoon to those who are used to seeing animation only for kids.

If you were not afraid and loved hares and rabbits -- after this movie you will be afraid of them.

And lastly, my favorite line in this cartoon -- 'Prince of a thousand enemies! They'll be waiting for you to kill you. But first they must catch up with you!

This excellent along with 'Desperate Dogs' adult cartoon will appeal to any brave and just plain cinematic connoisseur.
