The Crude family lives in a conventional, prehistoric past. Dinosaurs seem to have already become extinct, but they are full of other exotic animals: huge insects, almost intelligent monkeys and dogs with six legs. The Croods live in a cave, from where they get out only for the sake of hunting. But one day the pursuit of something edible leads them to an incredibly beautiful valley, where, it turns out, people also live. Only slightly more advanced. Instead of caves, they have houses equipped with the very latest in prehistoric technology. An experienced viewer will immediately remember the legendary 'Flintstones'.
Of course, a conflict immediately arises between the 'cave' and the 'city' ones. The former do not understand why they need a toilet, while the latter have long lost their skills of survival in the wild and have forgotten what they go hunting for. Quite a banal plot, revolving around the common truths 'it is better to be good than bad' and 'only together we will overcome everything', is packed in a very bright cover. Visually, the film is simply stunning. Humor gushes. Almost from the first to the final scene, the cartoon is crammed with gags, jokes and cool dialogues. Many jokes have a double bottom. The adult viewer will see references to situations that are understandable and close to him, and the child will simply enjoy the endless multi-colored flickering in the frame.
Outside the Disney universe, 'Croods. Housewarming 'is definitely one of the best cartoons of recent years. This is a DreamWorks product. He is almost missing to compare with 'Hotel Transylvania' ('Monsters on Vacation') or 'Despicable Me', but only just a little. If the producers do not waste this potential and continue to develop the franchise, there is a chance to get a worthy replacement for the 'Madagascar' and 'Ice Age' that have left us.
