Misery 4K 1990

As a rule, film adaptations of books turn out to be much less interesting than their original sources. Many details are overlooked that complement the picture in the book and make it lively and special. And even more so it concerns the adaptations of the work of Stephen King. It is worth remembering any, with the exception of the legendary "Shining", but even for it there are critics. Unfortunately, Misery is no exception.

In the film, the pain and despair of the protagonist is very weakly conveyed, because of which you cannot truly feel empathy for him and share the suffering. The film takes place in a very light atmosphere, while in the book the time drags on painfully and you begin to hate Annie with all your heart. Reading the book, you're not sure if this will ever end at all, except with the death of Sheldon. While in the film you expect salvation from about the middle of the tape.

Of course, there are no complaints about the plot, they are only about the game of the protagonist and the direction. The heroine Annie came out as it should, but the actor in the role of Sheldon looks good only outwardly, he does not draw out the content and is significantly different from the book hero. And I was upset by the absence of some bright scenes, for example, washing down the tablets with dirty water from a bucket with a doormat.

However, there is one plus in the film - camera work. I liked the colors, the shooting style and some of the angles.

King loves to project his own fears into books. What, then, is Misery? Probably about the fear of creative stagnation, which the main character had to some extent, and about the crazy fans influencing creativity.
