I was 11 years old when I first saw this film. I didn't just watch it, I watched it hundreds of times. I rewound the moments, and in slow motion, frame by frame, I watched with loving eyes the movements of Van Damme. Imagined himself as desperate, as strong, flexible, fast, tough and fair. I saw next to me the same beauty, for the sake of which I was ready to go to great lengths and even further. I liked the hero, I wanted to be the same hero, and for the sake of my desire I once again inserted a cassette with a film into the Daewoo VCR. After all, damn it, my hero knew how to ride without hands on a motorcycle and shoot a pistol! And how he beat in a jump from his feet with a guard!
Then I was not very interested in who the director of the film was, what kind of actors were playing, the script. I liked fights, chases, explosions and stunts, a beautiful girl, motorcycles and the action taking place on the screen. She attracted, attracted and forced to revise the film over and over again.
"Difficult Target" - for me the most-very film with Van Damme. Neither "Bloody Sport" nor "Universal Soldier" I liked as much in the 90s as "Tough Target". True, I'm lying a little, I also liked the AWOL. Eh, there was a time when the film was called a film only for waving fists and legs.
Now, when I look at the film, I see how much it differs from modern cinema. "Poor extras, cheap effects and gimmicks, mediocre editing." All this can be said if you watch the film now, 16 years after its release. But then, it was all very cool! For a kid 10-12 years old, pretending to be Van Damme was very trump card. After such films, the boy always begged him to be sent to the karate section and waved his fists in the yard, retelling the plot of the film to everyone. Why, almost all discussions of films then came down to "Do you remember how he is to him?"
I will not say that such films are no longer filmed. No, they are filming, and much better. It's just that the time when this film was really a Film cannot be returned. It remains only to remember those impressions of those views. Now it looks completely different, especially if you watch it for the first time.
