Ghostbusters: Afterlife 4K 2021

I'm not a big fan of the original duology, but it's certainly a cult movie (the first one for sure), with one of the most memorable songs from the movie. But they, too, were the usual light comedy in places too naive. Well, it was also a good horror for children, just look at the design of some of the monsters and ghosts. Understandably, with such a big name in your hands, it's hard not to continue the story. But we all remember that terrible female recast (well, we don't remember everyone has already forgotten about it). And here the son of the director of the original dilogy decided to intervene by calling the remaining three.

According to the plot, more than 30 years have passed since the events of part 2. The original team broke up a long time ago and no one remembers them. As it turned out, Egon Spangler ran away from New York to some hole in Oklahoma and lives as a recluse, leaving his daughter alone. And now, 30 years later, he dies and his daughter, as well as her two grandchildren, his 'Dirty Farm'. And then, starting to dig into grandfather's things, the young heroes learn that grandfather was not an easy recluse, but one of the ghost hunters. And now they have to continue the work of their grandfather.

Yes, the plot does not catch the stars from the sky, but it is too predictable and all plot moves become clear long before they appear. But with what love they treat the original films and their characters, the atmosphere is at a great level, and a very correct ending that forgives all the plot flaws.

The young actors played well, you just feel how interesting it was for them to learn about the 'hunters' not only within the plot, but also in real life. And yes, all the actors did a good job. The soundtrack is made in the spirit of the classic 80s, but for this film this is even a plus. The visual effects, due to the rather small number, are done well, except that the new design of Slimer may cause a question, but overall not bad.

This is a great gift for fans of the original duology and a good family movie with a very pleasant atmosphere. After the female version, this is a great franchise comeback.
