Listening to aliens from outer space, Earth scientists have grown a human-alien hybrid in laboratory conditions. The hybrid girl escaped and grew into the sexy Natasha Henstridge in a matter of seconds. Now a group of specialists of various kinds (Madsen, Molina, Whitaker, Helgenberger), led by Professor Fitch (Kingsley), must stop this monster.
Everything is wrong with this sci-fi. What specifically? First and foremost, how out of place the actors who are cast in the lead roles look in it. Kingsley, Molina, Madsen, Whitaker - each of them is good separately, but together, and moreover in such an under-action, under-thriller, they look ridiculous. There's not much action. And it's not what it seems to have been staked on. First and foremost, "Species" is a soft-porn after all. And who in that case is exactly in her place is Natasha Henstridge. "I want sex!" - she begs. Try saying no to such a beastie, even knowing that it could be the most fatal outcome for you.
