From the trailers of the first part, it was abundantly clear what the new adaptation would be worth and what fate it would suffer. Namely total oblivion, as another failed attempt at an adaptation of the iconic video game series. And I really enjoyed watching the mistakes of the previous film gradually come to naught in the second installment. The only pity is that it doesn't save the picture from its typical Hollywood lack of action, spinelessness and cliché.
A movie made by all the clichés and templates, diligently, right up to the credits, trying to show how 'fondly' it treats Sega's legacy. No matter how hard the studio bosses try, a closer look outside the theater reveals a dry, pragmatic 'movie-mass based on motifs'. I see no point in reviewing the plot, the characters, the chemistry between them, because it's exactly what you expect to see as a popcorn-drinking viewer. Especially a spoiler-free review (let all the moves and plot twists read from the trailers). And after watching in good company you may have a very positive impression of the ending, and the film is really good at making such a picture, but the thoughtful viewer will not let himself be deceived by this soulless product, which, surprisingly, was really pleasant to watch.
These are exactly the thoughts I had after watching it. If the feeling of chewed gum in your mouth a few times already suits you, and you're a fan of Sonic - look bravely. But personally, I'll stop in the middle, because I don't feel up to scolding this film and underrating it too much. But did it bring something to me personally or to the blue hedgehog universe? No.
