It just so happened that long before I saw the movie I came across the soundtrack for this movie by composer Ritsa Ortolani. The soundtrack with the pastoral and lighthearted title theme to 'Cannibal Holocaust'. One has to hand it to the composer's sense of humor.
If we talk about everything else, this film is probably the most disgusting, vile, nauseating work of cinema in its history. And yet it is a masterfully filmed, technically flawless horror. It blows the roof off and sticks to the screen with magnificent directing and an extraordinary presence effect.
In general, Italian directors can be called the craziest geniuses of world cinema. At least in the horror genre something may hardly be comparable with the works of Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, Umberto Lenzi, Ruggiero Deodato.
But I do not recommend you to watch 'Cannibal Hell' more than once. Its creators will burn in hell forever for this movie. On a golden frying pan with all the honors.
