Perhaps only a baby doesn't know who Superman is. After all, with the appearance of Superman the comic book industry began to develop and the term 'superhero' was introduced. You could say that Superman is the father of all superheroes. In 1978 the movie Superman was made, which was successful both at the box office and with the audience. Two years later a sequel was released. It was also not bad, but it would have been better if the second film had been finished, because it was from the third part that the franchise started to go downhill.
There are comedic elements in the film. This is evident from the very beginning. Basically it is supposed to look funny and entertaining, but I think it really hurt the movie. If this were a comedy that parodied and made fun of superheroes, the humor would have been appropriate, but this is a movie about Superman, and Superman is kind of a serious character.
There are also frankly silly and pointless moments. For example, Richard Pryor's character gets a job as a programmer. He is hired without being asked if he has a high school diploma or even a high school graduation certificate. It is also unclear how he was able to create a supercomputer that can find Superman's weak point without having any technical education. By the way, at the end of the movie, this supercomputer suddenly becomes intelligent and doesn't take orders from anyone. It just does. Don't ask why.
There's also very little action, very little action, very little spectacle. The main villain is a bad copy of Lex Luthor. Although there is humor, the movie is unfunny. The acting is poor. Only Christopher Reeve played his role well. The way he goes from good Superman to bad Superman and then struggles with his dark personality looks really great. Christopher Reeve is the only person who saves this movie from being a total fiasco.
