Somehow the prequel to A Quiet Place reached our screens quite quickly.
As is clear from the title, the movie this time tells the story of alien invasion into our world. At the center of the story is a former poet Samira, who is ill with terminal cancer. After sneaking out with others from the hospice to the city center for a show, she finds herself at the epicenter of the invasion. Surviving the first attack instead with her kitty, realizing there's not much time left to eat she heads to Harlem for the very pizza from her childhood.
Plotwise okay, but absolutely no surprises. Here they do not try to hide any intrigue, as in the first part, where the design of the same aliens were hidden until the very last moment. Here we have learned the rules of the past 2 movies, we know how to act in the situation. Yes, the movie tries to invent more and more non-standard situations, and sometimes it succeeds, take the same scene in the flooded subway, or a very beautiful scene near the fountain. But it seems that within the framework of this idea almost everything has already been told in the first movies.
What can be said about the actors, well, everything is played by the duo of the main characters, almost all the others are nownames, well, except for Djimon Hounsou, who does not age for more than 20 years since Gladiator. Oh, and the SEAL. The most important and the most unrealistic character of the movie, who passed such tests, but for the whole movie never once meowed.
From the technical part, in the aggregate of small budget, some locations and general plans of monster attacks look too computerized, and in some places very soapy. There are also no questions on the sound, as well as from the first tape, everything is built on it. Well, and the monsters themselves also sound very ominous.
As a result, it's just a normal disposable thriller, which showed that such a concept remains at the creators of fewer and fewer ideas for the entertainment of the viewer. You can watch 1 time for sure, well, and just as fans of the beginning of the apocalypse and post-apocalypse should go to the atmosphere of abandoned New York.
