It seems to me that the idea for the movie here is just great, you just had to realize everything well. And no one was expecting a masterpiece, at least just a funny comedy. It just seems to me that the number of funny movies in the cinema will soon be really equal to zero, so I personally look at any little funny movie as the second coming of Christ. No, don't get me wrong, the movie is fine, I just wanted more, honestly.
Okay, then, in essence. What, in essence, should this movie stand on? Personally, I think that this movie, as in principle and most of the similar ones, should be based on a few things: charismatic characters and bright relationships between them, cheerful and funny presentation of a simple plot, good humor and lyrical notes, supported by some simple and understandable morality (not necessarily). And all, if there will be all of the above things, it will turn out, if not excellent, then at least a good quality movie-comedy.
The plot is presented really briskly, and I think few people will be bored on the movie. The movie does not sag at any point, and even clearly not the most professional script does not interfere with enjoyment.
The characters here are okay. And that's the problem, that they're just normal. Yes, they're not bad to watch, they're not annoying, but that's about all they have to offer. That is, that you sit and the whole movie is dragged with the actions of each character will not be here. These characters practically don't catch on anything and they only come out at the expense of some actors' performance. Of course, their friendship is shown quite well, but still it is not enough to get a natural high from the movie.
And here with humor here is definitely not all smooth. The jokes are not bad, in some places you can even chuckle, but mostly they are all very banal and stupid. And there is a clear overkill with the shouting, the scriptwriters did not want to emphasize any intellectual component. Well, at least they almost did without toilet humor, and that's good... And so, of course, not funny at all.
I would like to say separately about the ending, which turned out to be quite touching. Such an ending should be in this movie, it fits perfectly into its atmosphere. If only the plot would correspond to it. But seriously, I want to feel that the characters have gone some way during the movie, then such an ending would be a hundred percent hit.
I'm so sick of seeing Ed Helms in comedies! The feeling that he since the first “Boyhood” has not played anywhere but comedies of varying degrees of stupidity, and maybe never played at all. And this despite the fact that he himself is not funny, and no clearly expressed comedic talent I do not see him. But who really looks good is Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm. The latter is just a cool guy and plays well with his face, and for Renner this role is atypical and that's why he looks even more interesting here. All the others play normally (though they are shouting a lot), though Lil Rell is a bit understretched.
Come on, enough with the grousing, it's not a bad movie. Maybe it's not the best comedy, but you can still get positive emotions. You can watch it once.
