The director of the picture was Damien Leone, who is the author of the previous two parts about the silent clown - killer Art.
The plot is simple: on the eve of Christmas the clown - maniac still kills people who accidentally got on his way.
The timing of the first part was modest - only 85 minutes, for which the director managed to convey the main events and actions, but there was a desire to see the clown himself more time. The timing of the second part was much longer than the first - 138 minutes, which is too long for this type of pictures, and closer to the final part the interest disappeared - the desire to watch till the end was replaced by the struggle with boredom. In the third part, the director chose the middle option - 125 minutes, which is a suitable and comfortable for viewing timing.
The storyline is not the strongest side of the picture - in the previous parts it was consistent and through, in the third part the narrative is torn because of the alternating episodes of Sienna/Art's life. If with the appearance of Art and the subsequent events of his meeting with people everything is dynamic and intense, the appearance of Sienna marks numerous conversations about her unstable psychological state.
The full meter features a large number of new and varied ways of beating and killing - with axe, sledgehammer, chainsaw, hammer, liquid nitrogen, gun, knife. With each subsequent part they look brighter, more intense and realistic.
In the third part the director adds plot details more explicitly, which clarify, though not fully, some things: here it is already openly and directly stated about the demonic essence of the clown - the killer and his assistant, events from Sienna's life are clarified in more detail.
The acting in the movie did not really catch on - strained and mediocre, except for the clown - maniac. David Howard Thornton fully copes with his tasks, perfectly and qualitatively transmits to the big screens the image of a crazy clown without a single word and sound through emotions, facial expressions and gestures. Art is a unique, key and basic character, on which the whole narrative holds and which allows the picture to be a coherent and designed project.
Separately, I would like to mention the musical component. Here the sound accompaniment fully copes with its tasks: it decorates the whole picture, adjusts to a certain emotional state, creates an atmosphere that reflects the ongoing events and the place of action. Special features are given by harmoniously selected Christmas and New Year melodies/compositions, which together with what is happening on the screen competently design the tone of the narrative.
The presence of black humor in the picture, which is conveyed through the words and actions of the characters/different situations and incidents, gives a special character to the narrative and introduces an entertaining component to the plot development.
'Terrifier 3' is a quality and entertaining horror film filled with dark humor. It consistently continues the plot composition of the previous two parts, keeps the overall atmosphere of the narrative and introduces new details and elements into the story.
- I'm looking forward to the fourth part, which is already in development, about a simultaneously silent and emotional clown - killer.
