Great movie. And road-movie, and comedy, and drama, and farce. On first viewing, it's very funny. On second viewing, a little sad. Among all movies about travesties, only 'Transamerica' can compare with 'Priscilla'. But the latter is a more serious film. And 'Priscilla' is bright, easy on the perception, and at the same time without vulgarity, which so often slips in this kind of movies.
It's hard to believe such a masterful transformation. Guy Pearce played a young capricious gay man with no roof, Terence Trump played a life-long transsexual, as for Hugo - everyone needs to see 'Agent Smith' and 'King Elrond' in such an unusual role!
Lots of details, tiny episodes that help to better understand the lives and characters of the main characters. This and the wedding of two members of sexual minorities, where the bride is dressed in the groom's costume and vice versa. That and 'Felicia's' mother (Guy Pearce) helping to choose her son's costumes for the show. It's a perfectly natural reaction of a little boy to the fact that mommy had a girlfriend and daddy had a heartfelt friend.
I advise everyone to see this movie, even ardent homophobes. The main thing is to put your prejudices and preconceptions aside. At least for an hour and a half. Just laugh and feel sad.
