The early '80s. The era of 'Star Wars' and 'Alien' came into force. The space theme in movies is more relevant than ever. And the studio of one of the most prolific film producers in history, the king of B-movies Roger Corman, which gave a way into cinema to then little-known personalities, and today those without whom it is difficult to imagine cinema - Joe Dante, Martin Scorsese, Sylvester Stallone, James Cameron, is alive as never before and releases its best and most famous creations.

The movie is certainly influenced by both 'Alien' and 'Star Wars', but it's mostly original. When you read reviews of it, you get the feeling that the movie is purposely trying to be put down. The synopses for the movie often mention some kind of monster sneaking into the ship, while nothing of the sort happened in the movie. Apparently, this is how some are trying to portray the movie as an 'Alien' clone. Unlike 'Alien' it's not about the monsters, though their role is not to be denied and it's hard not to note that they are done to perfection. Taking into account that the movie is far from the first class, or B-movie, you are amazed by their quality performance. Not every second-rate movie can boast such special effects that it is impossible to call it thrash. No less qualitative and convincing are the backgrounds and scenery - the blade that gets under the hero's skin, the pyramid and its surrealistic interiors, which are the result of the work of a team of artists, including the then little known James Cameron, who previously worked on the movie 'Battle Beyond the Stars', from where the scenery of the spaceship was borrowed. Incidentally, Cameron borrowed something for 'Galaxy of Terror' from his short film 'Xenogenesis', thanks to which he made his way to Corman's studio. And the severed arm, which Cameron made move by electrocuting it, impressed the producer so much that he was commissioned to direct the sequel to 'Piranha'. And not only that, the movie owes the title of a cult movie. Do not forget about the future Freddy Krueger Robert Englund, and about also shone among the actors of the future famous director of erotic films Zalman King. Also received notoriety scandals around the rape scene of the heroine Taffy O'Connell, which then cut, then perenarezalizalyaetsya, then presnimanil, so that the movie did not receive a rating of X.

The main strength of the movie is the script. The very concept of the pyramid playing a variety of absurd and surreal things with people is fascinating. The ancient deadly mysteries and the ultimate place of the one who conquers his fear in the deadly game are clearly Lovecraft's influence. In conclusion, we can say that the movie is instructive and carries the idea that a person needs to be able to hold victory over his own fear, otherwise his own fear will ruin a person.

Even if it's second-rate, but it's extremely beautiful in all respects, instructive and forgotten and omitted by critics (and the audience) cult sci-fi horror from cult producer Roger Corman.
