Zyzzyx Rd 4K 2006

The first thing that attracts the profile of the movie “Zyzzyx Rd” on the page of our favorite movie site (besides the beautiful Katherine Heigl in the list of creators, of course) is the box office receipts of this movie: It's a record! Really a record for low box office receipts.

Now let's go back to watching the movie itself and... no, we won't be impressed by what we saw.... no, we won't rejoice at the unexpectedly high quality of performance, but just try not to fall asleep/don't change the channel (underline) at the boring, inarticulate, completely disconnected from reality first third of the project, which will tell you about how a not too aggressive common man, who cheats on his wife with a young pretty blonde (Katherine Heigl - well, really, who could resist), will try to kill the ex-boyfriend of that very beauty in the deserted night wilderness somewhere in the dead end of the Ziziks road. It looks eerily implausible (lying on the sand at night with an angry ex-boyfriend running around with a knife may be romantic, but it's very silly). Indeed, if it wasn't for Kathryn, who fits very well into the image of a stereotypical blonde, always sucking on a lollipop, the viewing would have become quite a pathetic spectacle, but personally I advise you to continue to admire the only actress of the project (by the way, there are only three characters, plus two guys from the cast with a total appearance of a minute per brother) and be patient....

Patience will be needed in order to get bored in the first minutes, to be disappointed in another cheap TV-project (albeit with the now very famous Queen of romcoms), and later to see that very, I repeat, very, very, strongly distinguish this movie from the crowd of similar almost disappointments. The thing is that the movie consists of three parts, legitimately separated by really unexpected plot twists, each time directing the story in a new unexpected direction. Usually in TV horror movies everything is straightforward: the monster, the crowd, the running, the finale. Here, the circumstances change a lot and cause even the viewer's interest, though all the time and limping because of the low quality of the realization of the plot on the screen.

So, the first third - the weakest realization of a dull thriller, then a turn towards still not the most qualitative horror movies with..., and I don't say with what, because except for the magnificent Kathryn plot twists are the only thing that pleases at all, and at the end one more turn. It seems a little - only three, but exactly three more than usual. The transitions (at first too abrupt, especially in Katherine's image), which help to develop and turn the story upside down, are accompanied by excursions into the past and new details from it, so at least the scriptwriter tried (though not in writing the middle episodes, but in the general idea for sure).
